Thing 13

My mom took this course during the summer, so I had heard of Voicethread before Thing 13 was open to us. I was not too excited about doing this thing and I put it off for as long as I could. One of my anxieties about doing Voicethread is that I would actually have to listen to my voice. I am one of those weird people who cannot stand to hear their own voice.
When I actually got the website and started using the tool, I found that it was very user friendly and had no problem with an of the features. Due to the user-friendly nature of the site, I think that this would be a great tool for teachers to use in the classroom. The possibilities for Voicethread are endless because you can use it for every subject. In Language Arts when talking about the different parts of speech, you could have a noun slide come up and have the students submit different nouns. You could do this with all the parts of speech. A way to use Voicethread in Reading could be as a way to respond to a reading done in class or to compare the novel to the movie. In math, you could have the students explain different concepts, complete problems, or even do projects and have the other students comment. I believe that Voicethread would be a wonderful option instead of doing a powerpoint. The ability to explain their thoughts and reasons behind a concept or idea on powerpoint instead of having to read is really amazing.

  1. Me too! I can talk all day in front of people, but put me on a microphone or make me listen to myself and I hate it. My husband says I even turn red when recording voice threads.
