I have never honestly noticed the CC logo before taking this class. I am much more aware of CC after completing the required reading and think that it is a nice invention. It is very important that students fully understand the concept of CC before they begin working with it through learning and/or projects. CC is a great way to teach students about the importance of plagiarism and taking pride in your own work. As a parapro, I have not used anything yet from the web when I interact with the students I work with. The teachers that I work with have used content from the internet (videos, slide shows, demonstrations, etc) and it is VERY effective. The content they use generally comes from Teacher Tube. A potential negative of using CC could be that it is too restrictive. A student could possibly get bogged down with making sure that it is a CC item and miss the point of the project or learning activity. Educators should take care in how they use and present CC with their students so that it comes across effectively.
Since this is my first year working for the school system, I have not yet encountered the students using copyrighted material from the web. As a student and an educator, I always stress the importance of citing all the content you use from the internet. I am very careful about how I use the content and try to convey that idea to students that I work with. For students to work with the "Fair Use Guidelines", I believe that it will take some serious critical thinking for them to evaluate all of the guidelines about how they are going to use the work for their purposes. I think that it will make teachers think twice, or more seriously, about the content they choose from the internet, The only problem that teachers might encounter is if they wait until the last minute to pull content from the internet.
